Suomenlinna

(3 Ratings)
A fascinating island sea fortress, Suomenlinna once protected Helsinki's harbor from invasion
Built by the Swedes in 1748 as a bastion against the ever-encroaching Russians, Suomenlinna is one of the worlds largest nautical forts, and is reachable year-round by a brisk ferry ride from the citys Market Square.

Fort

The fort was interesting though much of it appeared closed as it was Winter. Easy to get to on quick ferry ride.
